Who we are

Briefly is a consent-based decision handoff platform operated at sharebriefly.com. We help people turn private research and conversations into clean, focused briefs they can share with trusted people — or keep for themselves.

We are a small, bootstrapped team. We do not have investors. We do not run advertising. Our only business model is the subscription fee described on our pricing page.

What we collect

  • Account information. Your email address, and optionally a phone number if you enable SMS intake.
  • Research content. The source material you submit — ChatGPT share links, pasted text, notes. This content is private by default and never shared with anyone without your explicit approval.
  • AI-generated artifacts. The structured intermediate representation (cleaned source) and the recipient-facing brief produced by our AI pipeline from your submitted content.
  • Audit log. An append-only record of trust-relevant actions — imports, approvals, deliveries, views, replies, and revocations. This log is for your protection: it is the evidence that nothing reached your recipient without your knowledge.
  • Error telemetry. Technical error reports sent to Sentry when the application crashes or behaves unexpectedly. These reports contain browser environment data, error stack traces, and session identifiers. They do not contain your research content or brief text.

How we use your information

  • To operate the Briefly platform and deliver the service you signed up for.
  • To run your submitted content through our two-stage AI pipeline — first to extract and structure the signal from your research, then to compose a recipient-specific brief.
  • To send you and your recipients content-minimal notifications (an SMS or email containing your name and a portal link — never the brief content itself).
  • To diagnose technical errors and improve reliability.
  • To maintain your audit log as an accurate record of sharing activity.

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell it.

Third-party processors

We share data with the following service providers to operate Briefly. Each processor receives only the data necessary for their function.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS). All Briefly infrastructure runs in AWS. Your data is stored and processed in the us-east-1 region (N. Virginia, USA). This includes our database, API servers, file storage, and authentication system.
  • Anthropic. Your research content is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate briefs. Anthropic’s API usage policy specifies that API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models by default. We do not enable any opt-in training. Anthropic’s privacy policy governs their handling of API traffic.
  • Twilio. If you enable SMS intake or receive SMS notifications, Twilio delivers those messages. Twilio receives phone numbers and notification text. They do not receive your research content or brief text.
  • Sentry. Error and performance monitoring for our web application. Sentry receives technical error reports. It does not receive your research content or brief text.

Your content is yours

You own your research, your notes, your briefs. We do not claim any license to your content beyond what is necessary to operate the service. We do not read your briefs, sell them, or use them to build products.

We do not use your content to train AI models. The Anthropic API processing described above is transient — your content is passed to the model for generation and is not retained by Anthropic for training purposes under their default API terms.

Data residency

All Briefly data is stored in AWS us-east-1 (N. Virginia, USA). We do not currently replicate data across regions.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information, research content, and briefs within 30 days. Audit log entries may be retained for up to 90 days after account deletion for legal compliance and dispute resolution.

Your rights

You may request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate information, or deletion of your account at any time by contacting us at hello@sharebriefly.com.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR/UK GDPR including the right to object to processing and the right to data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email to your registered address. Continued use of Briefly after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes acceptance.
